From Our Part of the World

I kept meaning to do a new post and then we would get busy...so now I have a whole bunch of things to write, I will try not to ramble.
Trey~
Loving second grade and Cub Scouts. He had his rain gutter regatta last Thursday. We were missing the rudder so Mark did a little research and they turned his into a catamaran. He won the "most unique" award. He had a blast! He has also started soccer again and is doing great. This past Saturday the coach had him in 6 of the 8 quarters playing forward. He was tired but always ready to play.
He has had a passion for music that I hope he never looses considering his parents are not musically or vocally talented! I often catch him singing and playing an air guitar. We are lucky to live in a wonderful school district that still has on site P.E., music and art teachers. In a few years the students are required to join band. He has his sights set on a trumpet.
Coby~
Oh the joys of little boys! We are still working on potty training and the bribery is starting to wear off. Who would pass up a mini Snickers bar??
This past Tuesday he took a crash head first into a chair. Ohhh the gushing blood...good thing it does not bother me, well on my children it does. We took a LONG visit to the ER and came out with 4 stitches. Now he will have a scar to match his brother's.
I took them to an awesome park today up at Anthem. We started off with a train ride around, then they went on all the slides, dug in the sand for bones, played in the splash pad and ended with a little soccer and running in the grass. Trey held Coby down all the slides, he is such a good big brother!
I love this time of year! Cooler weather, pie month at Marie Callendar's, changing of leaves (oh wait, not where we live, just wishful thinking), did I mention pie month?? :) I LOVE to bake, but have never wanted to make a pie that doesn't start with a store bought crust. So I turn to Marie 2 times a year for her double cream blueberry pie with a hint of apple. I know how to make the chocolate satin so we can have that year round.
Coby and I took a trip a couple of Fridays ago over to Mesa to see my grandparents, stop at a fabric store and try Cafe Rio for the first time. I must say it was yummy! We have a place by us called Bajio that is very similar and they have awesome mango salsa and sweet rice.
We also found a great burger joint that has really good cheeseburgers, flavorful shoestring french fries and yummy custard. Can you tell I LOVE food??
I am still working on a little redecorating in my family room but have the master bedroom done!
With this cooler weather we were able to take a hike again. Coby made it most of the way. I can't wait until we can go a couple of times a week!

I am going to an activity to learn how to make pie crust. I will probably be the only one there who can't do it...haha.
